Legally Exempt Providers

Legally Exempt Child Care Providers are usually friends or family members that choose to care for children from only 1 or 2 families.  These providers are not required to be registered with the state but may choose to go through a simple authorization process to be eligible to receive payment from the state child care financial assistance program (for a qualifying child in their care).  The provider must meet minimal Vermont health and safety standards and pass a records check.
