A free orientation program is offered by Child Care Resource for anyone considering starting a family child care program in their home. You will learn about state requirements, the need for care in your town, along with resource and subsidy programs to help you start and maintain a quality child care program. Warm, friendly staff from CCR will answer your questions. You'll even get a free resource notebook to take home with you. For each orientation we arrange for an experienced family child care provider to come give you the inside scoop about being a provider. This program meets the State requirement for orientation.

Family Child Care Preschool Project

Family Child Care providers often find that when children reach the age of 3, parents think it’s time to consider a larger child care center.  Now, with the support of public schools and Child Care Resource, parents who prefer the personal feeling and lower cost of an in-home family child care setting can be assured that their child will receive high quality preschool experiences.  Family child care providers receive consultations from a licensed early childhood educator to support professional development, develop curriculum which aligns with the Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS), and document children’s progress through the Creative Curriculum Development Continuum.  This support ensures that children in family child care settings will receive early learning opportunities and experiences which provide the foundation for future success in Kindergarten.

In the 2010-2011 school year, 8 providers located in South Burlington, Burlington, and the school districts of Chittenden South are participating in this project.
