We'll do a full search to match your child care needs with a child care provider that offers compatible services. Our referral specialists will answer all your questions about child care and parenting. We'll send written information about the topics most important to you.

Our referral options are designed so that you can choose the one that meets your needs and your budget. The service fee is fully or partially waived in the following circumstances:
The State of Vermont has an agreement with us to pay for services if your family is currently eligible for, or receiving, any state assistance such as Reach-up, Child Care Subsidy or ANFC.

Your employer has an agreement with us to pay for one of the service levels below. If you choose a higher level of service, your fee would be the difference. See list of companies listed below.

Referral and Consultation Options

Basic Referral with Consultation Service:
•Unlimited referrals to child care programs with openings confirmed within the last month.
•Detailed profiles on all referred providers.
•In-depth information on child care issues.
•Call back 2 more times for additional referrals.
The fee for this service is $60

Confirmed Referral with Consultation Service:
Child care openings can go fast! Get all of the above plus openings confirmed within the last week.
The fee for this service is $95

Enhanced Consulting and Confirmed Referral Service:
•Unlimited referrals with openings confirmed within the past 48 hours.
•Unlimited service until care is found.
•" Parenting Package" that gives information pertaining to your child's growth and development.
The fee for this service is $125

Basic Referral Service:
•Are you more of a “do-it-yourselfer”?
•Up to 10 detailed profiles.
•Program openings are confirmed within the last month.
The fee for this service is $30

In-Home Packet:
Step-by-step directions to help you find and choose an in-home provider that's right for your family.
•Sample flyers
•Newspaper and local college contacts
•Current state and federal tax information
•Referrals to regional nanny agencies for live-in care
The fee for this packet is $20

The fee for our referral services is free or reimbursable for employees of companies (listed below) that have a contract with us. The fee is also waived for families who can certify that they have incomes below a certain level or who qualify to receive child care subsidy.

Here is a list of local employers who provide child care referral assistance to their employees:

• Burlington Free Press: Offers enhanced level of service that includes three child care searches with information that has been confirmed within last week, consultation and written information. Parents contact the Referral Agency in their County.

• Burton Snowboards: Offers enhanced level of service that includes unlimited number of searches with openings confirmed within 24 hours, consultation on child care issues, and written information. Parents contact the local agency in their county for service.

• Fletcher Allen Health Care: Offers basic level of service that includes consultation, total of 3 searches based on most recent contact with provider for openings, and written information. All parents contact Child Care Resource and we will contact other agencies if care is needed outside of Chittenden County.

• General Dynamics: Offers enhanced level of service that includes unlimited number of searches with openings confirmed within 24 hours, consultation on child care issues, and other written materials.

• Hackett, Valine & MacDonald: Offers level of service parents feel they need to support them in finding and choosing child care. Parents contact Child Care Resource

• Husky: Child care-related services are available as required by employees. Parents contact Child Care Resource.

• IBM: Offers enhanced level of service that includes unlimited number of searches with openings confirmed within 24 hours, consultation on child care issues, follow-up with parents to see how search process is going, and written information. Parents contact Child Care Resource.

• Merchants Bank: Offers enhanced level of service that includes unlimited number of searches with openings confirmed within 24 hours, consultation on child care issues, parenting packet and other written materials. Parents contact the Referral Agency in their county.

• Vermont State Employees Association (VSEA): Offers enhanced level of service that includes unlimited number of searches with openings confirmed within 24 hours, consultation on child care issues, and written information. Parents contact the local agency in their county for service.

• University of Vermont (UVM): Parents contact their local Referral Agency. UVM will reimburse parents up to $50 based on the level of service the parents choose.
